Installation Guide
TLE Series 160 - 500 UL S2B
4.8.5
Use of TLE Series 160 - 500 in eBoost™ Operation Mode
NOTE !
For systems intended to be operated in eBoost™ Operation Mode, the installation
shall be protected with suitable surge protection devices (SPDs) on the AC bus
feeding the UPSs.
Please contact your GE Service Center for more information.
NOTE !
In eBoost
TM
Operation Mode
the inverter output filter is placed in parallel with the
load, and combined with the load current it contributes to the UPS input
characteristic.
As the inverter output filter exhibits a predominantly capacitive characteristic, it
may provide some degree of reactive power compensation when combined with
lagging power factor loads.
Conversely, depending on the load type and level, the UPS input characteristic
may exhibit a leading power factor in eBoost
TM
Operation Mode
.
Please contact your GE Service Center for more information.
NOTE !
If an emergency generator set supplies the UPS in case of Utility Failure, and the
system is intended to be operated in eBoost™ Operation Mode, eBoost operation
shall be prevented during generator operation.
This can be accomplished by either installing a “GENERATOR ON” signal (refer to
Section 5.2.5)
or an “eBoost/IEMi CONTROL” signal (refer to Section 5.2.7).
Please contact your GE Service Center for more information.
