Assembling the column
Introduction
This section describes how to reassemble the column after performing maintenance,
service or cleaning procedures.
Precautions
WARNING
There is a risk of injury to your fingers or other appendages if they
become trapped between an end plate and the column tube.
Handle the end plates with care.
NOTICE
Lubricate seals with 20% ethanol before fitting the adapter and
end plates into the column.
Fitting the bottom end plate
The bottom end plate is most easily repositioned during reassembly by placing a
mechanical lifting device underneath the column. Contact your GE Healthcare represen-
tative for information about lifting devices suitable for different column types.
To replace the bottom end plate:

Place a suitable mechanical lifting device under the bottom end plate.
Note:
Blocks may be placed between the lifting device and the bottom end plate to
achieve the required lifting height.

Make sure that the O-rings have been lubricated with 20% ethanol before
carefully lifting the bottom end plate upwards and into the column.

Use a wrench to secure the bolts that hold the bottom end plate in place on
the column tube.
