USB Printers
Generic PCL printers are supported by the built in driver. Many of the
currently available printers use a proprietary driver and will not operate with
the generic driver.
Not all USB printers will be correctly identified by the QuickPanel when the
printer is connected. The port LPT1 will show on the printer configuration
dialog‘s port list when the USB printer is correctly detected.
When an unsupported USB printer is connected to the QuickPanel
View/Control, a pop-up dialog box prompts for the USB driver to use.
Supported printers will not show this dialog. Just close the dialog if it
appears and choose a different printer. Alternately, you may be able to set
the printer up as a network shared printer connected to another computer on
your Ethernet network.
The port for the USB connected printer does not show on the printer
configuration dialog‘s port list unless the USB printer is connected and
compatible. The port LPT1: will be shown in the port list when it is available.
To connect to the USB printer, select LPT1: from the Ports list of the
Printers configuration dialog. Leave the printer type set to either PCL Laser
or PCL Inkjet, as appropriate.
Printer-side errors are displayed in pop-up dialogs that need to be
acknowledged before the unit can continue operation. Generally you will be
given the option to retry printing the document, or to cancel the remainder of
the document.
