The following table describes the purpose and location of safety labels and other important information
provided on the equipment.

Type/Class Label
Used to indicate the degree of safety or
protection.
IP Code (IPX1 or IPX8)
Indicates the degree of protection
provided by the enclosure per IEC60
529. IPX1 cannot be used in operating
room environment; IPX8 can be used in
operating room environment.
Bottom of Footswitch
Equipment Type BF (man in the box
symbol) IEC 878-02-03 indicates B
Type equipment having a floating
applied part.
Probe and PCG marked Type BF

cannot be provided on the label.
Various
“CAUTION - Dangerous voltage” (the
lightning flash with arrowhead in
equilateral triangle) is used to indicate
electric shock hazards.

“Mains OFF” indicates the power off
position of the mains power breaker.
