Evolution history
This section describes the Senographe DS product evolution at a high level.
3-1-1
M5BPlus
Since Nepthys M5BPlus there exists the two different digital detectors with two sets different of charac-
teristics, referred to as the
Standard Digital Detector
and the
International Digitial Detector
. These differ-
ent detectors lead to the following two different Senographe DS core systems:
•
Senographe DS Standard (2383168-3) — manufactured with the Standard Digital Detector.
•
Senographe DS International (2383168-3-1) — manufactured with the International Digital Detector.
If you ever need to replace the digital detector refer to Table 1 on page 1099.
3-1-2
Nephtys M5BPlus-FB
•
ADS Software was updated to 32.10 so that the From Below (FB) view is printed with the correct ori-
entation.
•
IDC Software was updated to 4.2.5 with better functionality, and is backward compatible down to
Nepthys M5BPlus.
•
Introduction of new Rotation, Compression, and PDU boards that contain improved firmware, which
are all backward compatible as follows:
-
Rotation board (2375488-10) backward compatible down to Nepthys M5B
-
Compression board (2373563-7) backward compatible down to Nepthys M5B
-
PDU board (2365871-7) backward compatible down to Nepthys M4
•
Introduction of version b of the Control Station V2, named Control Station V2(b). The Control Station
V2(b) has slightly different hole positions for the keyboard sliders. As a result, a new FRU exists for
the sliders and a slider adapter kit exists for the pre-December 2006 V2(a) Control Stations so that
they can accommodate the new sliders.
3-1-3
Nephtys M49 (IS4-2 Madras)
The introduction of the V3 Control Station is implemented at Nepthys M49 (IS4-2 Madras), which con-
tains the following differences:
•
a new ADS Computer — The 32-bit SB150 is replaced by a 64-bit Sun U20. This new ADS Computer
runs a newer "common" Service Desktop, which is very similar to the original Service Desktop.
The new ADS Computer does not have a floppy disk drive. Consequently all procedures that previ-
ously used a floppy disk now use CD-R media.
Some of the UNIX binaries are different, the network interface device names are different, and all the
serial connections are on separate PCI boards. Consequently, some of the networking and AWS
diagnostic commands are different.
•
a new UPS unit — The old UPS unit has been replaced by a smaller UPS unit. The new UPS unit is
an
APC 750 SmartUPS
, and has the same connectivity and functionality as the old UPS unit.
•
The layout of the IDC Computer, UPS and ADS Computer is different. Consequently, in order to be
able to access the DVD-ROM on the new ADS Computer the hole locations on the Omega covers
are different.
•
there is no more Global Modem.
•
introduction of a new Lift Board (2373567-8) with firmware CPLD 10.0.1.
The introduction of a new Bucky and the possibility to order the Bucky board as a FRU.
Reduction of the number of core systems from two to one; only the Senographe DS International
(2383168-4-1) exists.
