GE Reason Switches
Industrial Managed Ethernet Switch
Chapter 6: Operation

Energizing
A redundant power supply is available as optional in Reason Switches. The
connections for power sources and rack cabinet grounding are located on the rear of
the equipment. The protective grounding connector shall be electrically connected to
the metallic mass of the cabinet in which Reason Switches shall be installed.
All power connections should use insulated flameproof flexible cable (BWF type) with
a 1.5 mm² cross section, 70° C (158 °F) thermal class, and 750 V insulation voltages.
The following figures display the power connectors used for Reason switches.

Reason Switches do not have a power on or power off button. After power is
connected, the switch will power up. After powered up, the unit LEDs will perform a
pattern that indicates switch is being initialized. After a few seconds, Link, RX and TX
LEDs will indicate operation and the initialization process will be finished.
For T1000, if all ports are disabled, the LINK LED of Port 1 (first LED in the first column and first row) will remain in ON state in
orange colour. This means that the switch is powered on and operating, but all communication ports are disabled.
S2020 and S2024 have a Power LED for each power supply that indicates when it is energized.
