Mixer automation and control
Introduction
The XDM mixer is designed to operate as a stand-alone instrument. XDUO mixers can
be operated as a stand-alone instrument or as a FlexFactory component.
The XDM mixer is monitored and controlled using the displays on the I/O Cabinet. The
agitator is operated using the variable frequency drive display.
The XDUO mixer is operated using the local control software. The software access is
provided via a touchscreen on the I/O Cabinet.
Xcellerex XDM mixer control
The XDM mixer agitator motor is operated using the variable frequency drive (VFD). The
VFD display is located on the I/O Cabinet. The variable frequency drive is an adjustable
speed drive for controlling the agitator motor speed and direction.
The following functions are available:
•
Start and stop the agitator motor
•
Change agitation speed
•
Change agitation direction
Xcellerex XDUO mixer control
The XDUO mixer is operated using the local control software. The local control panel
contains a programmable logic controller (PLC) for process control. The communication
with PLC is done using an integrated touchscreen on the I/O Cabinet. The PLC can act
as a controller or as a remote input/output system, depending on the XDUO mixer mode
of operation.
