Floppy Disk (F. DISK)
The GK350 is equipped with an on-board Disk drive which allows you to work with a
storage device (floppy disk). The GK350 can work with MS-DOS formatted HD
disks (1.44 Mbytes). Other sizes, (ex. 720 Kb), or formats, (ex. Mac), are not recog-
nized.
The functions available in Disk mode are:
Save All :
saves user-programmed data (6 Performances and 1
recorded sequence) to disk.
Load All :
loads previously memorized GK350 data (6 Perform-
ances and 1 sequence) to the instrument’s memory.
Direct from Disk : plays back Midi files directly from disk without first load-
ing the data into memory.
Save All
The Save All operation allows you to save user-programmed GK350 data to disk,
allowing you to create an archive of personalised data which you can load into memory
at any time. The GK350 data is saved as a single file (GK350.MEM) which contains
Performance and Sequencer data.
Procedure
1. Have a new or used disk ready to save data to.
The disk must be standard Ms-DOS formatted disks with a capacity of 1.44 Mega-
byte (DS, HD type). You can find 1.44 Mb MS-Dos formatted disks in all compu-
ter outlets.
2. Check that the floppy disk is not write protected.
If so, remove the protection beforehand. If you forget to do this, the display will
shown the message, “PROT” when you attempt to save to the disk.
3. Insert the disk into the drive and press the [F. DISK] button.
The display shows the temporary “WAIT” message for a short period, followed
by the message “NOMID” (no MidiFile).
…
The “NOMID” message appears only when the disk is empty (no files present).
After a short period lasting about 5/6 seconds, the Save All message appears.
If you press [F.DISK] during the WAIT period, you will escape Disk mode.
4. Press the [YES/+] button to save the GK350 user-programmed data to disk.
If you don’t press the [YES/+] button within 10 seconds, or if you press the [NO/
–] button, you escape Disk mode and the display returns to the Normal situation.
While the data is being saved, the display shows the “WAIT” message. When
the message disappears, you know that the data has been saved and the dis-
play returns to the Normal situation.
The name of the file saved to disk (“GK350.MEM”) is not shown in the display in
the Load procedure. This file name can only be seen on a computer and each
disk can contain only one “GK350.MEM” file. If the disk already contains a
“GK350.MEM” file when you perform the Save All operation, the old file will be
overwritten by the new one with no warning messages.
N.B. The on-board Disk drive is located under
the keyboard, on the left.
