iSXblue/SXBlue II GNSS Series Technical Reference Manual
6
The iSXBlue/SXBlue II GNSS is one component of a modular system that normally includes two other
parts: a computer and a data collection software. A modular approach has huge advantages:
-
Allows the use of any PDA, Tablet, PC, iPad/iPhone, laptop or computer technology to suit the
application
-
Allows the use of any off-the-shelf software
-
Allows for keeping up-to-date with the very fast evolving computer/software technology
-
Allows greater flexibility/versatility for installation in all sorts of applications.
This section and the following cover the normal steps that one would normally follow to get the system
up and running for a data collection session: by understanding the factory default settings of the
communication ports and output messages, setting up a Bluetooth connection with a
handheld/tablet/computer, installing the USB drivers on a computer, configuring the data collection
software for proper operation with the iSXBlue/SXBlue II GNSS.
Chapters 2 and 3 present advanced features and configurations of the iSXBlue/SXBlue II GNSS for other
types of applications: high output rates, carrier-phase post-processing, base station and rover
configuration for RTK centimeter-level accuracies, etc.
1.3.1 Default Parameters
Although specified in the following chapters, this section provides tables that detail the default parameters
of the iSXBlue/SXBlue II GNSS Series as delivered.
Table 1-1 Default Applications
Memory Location
SXBlue II GNSS
Application 1
MFA
(RTK Base & Rover activated)
Application 2
Auto-Dif
(Installed but not activated)
Different applications can be installed on any of the two application memory locations of the iSXBlue/
SXBlue II GNSS internal memory. The basic application installed on all models is called MFA (Multi-
Function Application). MFA will search for the best source of differential correction available and use it
in the following order of preference: RTK (automatic detection of RTCM3, ROX, CMR/CMR+ on any of
the COM ports), L-Band (OmniSTAR
®
G2/HP/XP/VBS) for III-L models only, external DGPS
(RTCM2.x), SBAS (WAAS, EGNOS, MSAS and GAGAN), NONE. (Special commands, described in
sections 3 and 4, can be used to include or exclude the various differential correction types from this
automatic detection process). The Auto-Dif on Application 2 is pre-installed but requires a subscription
for activation. SBAS/LBand/RTKBase, RTK Rover, already available in the MFA are also available as
discrete applications.
