In the State of California a spark arrestor is required
by law (Section 4442 of the California Public
Resources Code). Other states may have similar
laws. Federal laws apply on federal lands.
NOTE:
If you equip the engine of your pressure
washer with a spark arrestor muffler, the spark
arrestor must be maintained in effective working order
by the owner/operator.

The model and serial numbers will be found on a
decal attached to the pressure washer. You could
record both serial number and date of purchase
and keep in a safe place for future reference.
