Section 4 • Repair Procedures
REV A
SECONDARY BOOM COMPONENTS
26 Attach a securing strap from the mid-pivot to the
lower secondary boom, to secure the mid-pivot
from moving.
27 Number each electrical cable and its entry
location at the platform control box.
28 Disconnect the cables from the platform control
box.
29 Pull all of the electrical cables out of the cable
track. Do not pull out the hydraulic hoses.
30 Tag, disconnect and plug the platform rotator
and slave cylinder hydraulic hoses at the union,
located near the upper pivot.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
31 Remove the hose and cable covers from both of
the lower secondary boom leveling links.
32 Tag, disconnect and plug the master cylinder
hydraulic hoses. Cap the fittings on the
cylinder.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.
33 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane to
the lug on the rod end of the master cylinder.
34 Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
master cylinder barrel-end pivot pin. Use a soft
metal drift to remove the pin. Then remove the
master cylinder from the machine.
Crushing hazard. The master
cylinder could become unbalanced
and fall when removed from the
machine if not properly supported
by the overhead crane.
35 Attach a lifting strap from an overhead crane to
the upper pivot, then remove the securing strap
from the upper mid-pivot.
36 Pull all of the hoses and cables out of the upper
mid-pivot.
Component damage hazard.
Cables and hoses can be
damaged if they are kinked or
pinched.
37 Remove the secondary boom drive limit switch
mounting fasteners from the lower secondary
boom. Do not disconnect the wiring.
38 Pull all of the hoses and cables out of the
mid-pivot and lay them off to the side.
Component damage hazard.
Cables and hoses can be
damaged if they are kinked or
pinched.
