Driver’s Seat Repair and Service
Refer to the Driver’s Seat Parts Identification List, Figure 11-
33, Figure 11-
34
, Figure 11-35, Figure 11-
36, and Figure 11-37 when using the following instructions.
Removing Seat From Riser
1. Disconnect the air hose.
2. The seat is connected to the riser by four bolts that run through the slide track and the top base
plate. Remove these four bolts.
Knob Replacement
1. Remove the knob to be replaced. Behind each knob is a backing nut. The back tilt, seat tilt and
height adjustment knobs (item #3.060 on Figure 11-33
) use an 11/16” backing nut (item #6.130
on Figure 11-33). These fasteners are secured with non-permanent thread-locking compound.
Leave the backing nut on the knob.
2. Put a little non-permanent thread-locking compound on the rod. Screw on the new knob. Holding
the backing nut with a wrench, back the backing nut into the knob until tight. The knob should
now turn the rod without rotating on the threaded rod itself.
Replacing Rubber Bellow
1. Remove the plastic pins (item #3.400 on Figure 11-34
) that secure the bellow to the top of the
seat cushion.
2. Remove the seat from the riser (see the “Removing Seat From Riser” section, above).
3. Remove slides (see the “Replace Slides or Slide Handle” section later in this chapter).
4. Replace the bellow.
5. Replace slides, being careful to use the center holes. The hole pattern in the seat is 11” x 11”.
6. Replace the seat on the riser. Reinstall the plastic pins.
Seat Back Cover Replacement
1. Remove armrest (if installed on your seat).
2. Remove the back shell (if required).
3. Remove the back from the seat. Two screws (item #6.320 on Figure 11-33) are located on each
side of the seat back base.
4. Disconnect the air lines to the seat back.
5. Remove the cover (item #2.140 on Figure 11-
33) as follows: Remove the center panel, which is
held in place with Velcro fasteners, by slow, even pulling.
6. Beginning with the cape, pull the upholstery over the edges. Firmly attach the velcro strips on
the upholstery to the Velcro in the foam. Adjust the foam and upholstery as needed and attach the
bottom edge using the Velcro fasteners.
