8. Visual Basic
An application will be needed to use a PC to control the Asuro robot.
A great variety of programming languages is available for such
applications.
Initially normal students will not be experienced in developing appli-
cations. Therefore we decided to choose Visual Basic, which provides
an easy way to develop applications.
Visual Basic (VB) is a programming language and a development
tool, allowing is to create software for the Windows operating sy-
stem. The attribute “Visual” refers to the Graphical User Interface
GUI) and the attribute “Basic” refers to the programming language
BASIC (Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code).
The project had been set up to work with Visual Basic 2010, which is
the most recent version available today.
