Install or Connect (Figure 6)
1. Lubricate the valve bores, plunger, valve, and
O-rings with a thin film of Delco Silicone Lube (GM
P/N 18010909 or equivalent).
• Use only new seals from the repair kit.

3. Plunger ip body.
4. Valve (26).
5. Washer (25).
6. Nut (24).
7. Cover (23) and O-ring (27).

Remove or Disconnect (Figure 7)
1. Screw (1).

6. No. 2 inlet-exhaust valve assembly (13).
7..Retaining ring (6).
8. Washer (7).
9. Seal retainer (10), inner O-ring (9), and outer
O-ring (8) from the retainer.
11. Valve retainer (12).
12. Four bolts and washers (14),
15. Upper body bolts and washers (31) (if used).
16. Adapter (30) (if used).
17. No. 1 piston retainer (32).
CAUTION: Before proceeding with the disas
sembly, refer to Figure 10 and note that a
nylon-insert nut and stem are used to contain
the No. 1 piston return spring, stem spring,
and relay piston spring. The combined force
of these ^springs is approximately 22.7 kg (50
pounds) and care must be used when remov
ing the nylon-insert nut as the spring forces
will be released. Manually or mechanically
restrain the relay piston and the No. 1 piston
while the nylon-insert nut and stem are being
^removed. Failure to o b s e r v e t h i s caution
could result in personal injury.

19. Hold stem (17) with a screwdriver while removing:
nylon-insert nut (33).
20. Spring guide (34),
21. Stem spring (35),
22. Relay piston spring (21).
23. No. 1 inlet-exhaust valve retaining ring (22).
24. No. 1 inlet-exhaust valve assembly (29) (figure 8).
25. Retaining ring (23) (figure 9).
26. Retainer (26),: inner O-ring (25), and outer O-ring
(24) from retainer.

27. Valve spring (27).
28. Valve retainer (28).
,29. No. 1 piston (39) and O-ring (41) (figure 10).
30. Rubber washer (40).

Clean
• All components. in mineral spirits or another suit
able solvent.

Inspect
• The valve seats for nicks and burrs. Replace as
needed.
• The springs for cracks and corrosion. Replace as
needed.
