PRE-RIDE INSPECTION
Chain
– Check the general condition of the chain. If the chain is worn, check
the condition of the drive sprockets. Adjust chain slack and lubricate if
necessary.
Throttle Pedal
– Check to see that the throttle pedal operates correctly. The
action must be smooth and responsive, and must spring back to idle position
when released. If this is not the case, have the product inspected by a
qualified professional.
Fittings
– Check the tightness of all fittings and bolts, especially the fittings
around the steering, wheels and chassis. If you are unable to do this, have the
product inspected by a qualified professional.
Lights
– Check that head and tail lights are in full working order. Repair or
replace if necessary. If you are unable to do this, have the product inspected
by a qualified professional.
Switches
– Check the operation of all switches. Have the product inspected
by a qualified professional if necessary.
Tyre Pressure
– Use an accurate, low pressure tyre gauge. Inflate only when
tyres are cold where possible. Inflate to appropriate pressures as indicated on
the sidewall of the tyre.
Tyre Wear
– When tyre tread is at 3mm of height, tyres must be replaced. If
you are unable to do this, have the product inspected by a qualified profes-
sional.
Engine Break-In
There is never a more important period in the life of your machine than the
period between zero and 20 hours.
For this reason, we ask that you carefully read the following material.
Because the engine is brand new, you must not put excessive load on the
engine for the first several hours of operation. During the first 20 hours, the
various parts in the engine wear and polish themselves to the correct
operating clearances.
During this period, prolonged full throttle operation or any condition which
might result in excessive engine heating must be avoided.
However, momentary (2-3 second maximum) full throttle operation under
load does not harm the engine. Each full throttle acceleration sequence
should be followed with a substantial rest period for the engine by cruising at
lower r/min so the engine can rid itself of the temporary build-up of heat.
If any abnormality is noticed this period, consult your dealer.
0-10 Hours
- Avoid continuous operation above half throttle. Allow a cooling off period of
five to ten minutes after every hour of operation. Vary the speed of the
machine from time to time. Do not operate it at one set throttle position.
10-20 Hours
- Avoid prolonged operation above 3/4 throttle. Rev the machine freely
through the gears but do not use full throttle at any time.
After brake-in
- Avoid prolonged full throttle operation. Vary speeds occasionally.
