Tape Counter
& Memory Stop
Your Dual-Deck VCR
Tape Counter
allows you to note the location of specific
sections of your tapes and find them quickly later. The Tape Counter in your
Dual-Deck VCR is a real-time counter. This means the display is shown in hours
and minutes. If you are using a T-120 tape the Tape Counter will run from 0:00
to 2:00 in SP mode, 0:00 to 4:00 in LP mode and 0:00 to 6:00 in SLP mode.
To reset the Tape Counter, insert a tape into either deck, then select that deck
using the
TV View
button. Press the
Clear
button (
Reset
on the remote control).
The Tape Counter will be reset to 0:00 for that deck; the Tape Counter of the
other deck will not be affected. To reset the Tape Counter of the other deck,
switch
TV View
to that deck, then press the
Clear
button (
Reset
on the remote
control).
The Tape Counter position for both decks can be seen on the
On-Screen Display (OSD)
and on the
Front Panel Display
for the deck that is
being viewed. To see the Tape Counter on the Front Panel
Display, press the
Ctr/
Clock
button on the front panel (
CTR
on the remote control) of your Dual-Deck
VCR. Press the
Ctr/Clock
button (
CTR
on the remote control) again to see the
current time. This must be done separately for each deck.
▲
The Tape Counter only runs when the tape has recorded material on it; a blank
tape will show 0:00 during rewind and fast forward. If a blank section of tape is
encountered during play, rewind or fast forward, the Tape Counter will stop
running until video is found again.
We recommend you reset the Tape Counter each time you insert a tape. Resetting
the Tape Counter assures you a consistent reading when you want to write down
the Tape Counter time of a specific scene. This is important when preparing notes
for editing.

You may also place a
Memory Stop
on your tape which marks the tape so that when
either rewinding or fast forwarding, the tape will automatically stop when the
counter reaches 0:00 (your Memory Stop mark). To set the Memory Stop mode
for the last deck viewed, press the
Memory
button. An
M
will appear below the
Tape Counter setting in the OSD.
