10. ROTARY HOE
The rototiller can be equipped with different implements in order to meet the most varied requirements.
The rotary hoe is the most widely used implement on walking tractors for work in orchards, vineyards
and gardens.

Safety rules
WARNING
- Before starting the rotary hoe connected to the PTO, always make sure that any bystanders are at a
safety distance from the machine.
- Move the PTO lever to neutral position and stop the engine before working on the rotary hoe coupled
to the PTO.
- Never ever carry out hoeing operations without the protective bonnet mounted on the implement.
- Never ever work with the rotary hoe unless the accident-preventing safety devices are perfectly
efficient.
- Before the rotary hoe is used on reversing walking tractors, it is essential to move the reversing control
lever to the right running direction to allow the reversing safety device to operate correctly.
Use of the rotary hoe
The rotary hoe is operated by the PTO control lever of the walking tractor in the following way:
1) Pull the clutch lever and engage the 1st speed by means of the gearshift lever.
2) Pull the PTO lever towards the driver and release it once it has engaged.
3) Slowly release the clutch lever to start the rotary hoe turning; it must gradually lower into the soil.
Rotary hoe adjustments
The rotary hoes are adjustable to obtain different working widths corresponding to the characteristics of
the crops in question.
The rotary hoes that can be equipped with adjustable bonnets are of two types:
a) Rotary hoe with a 700 mm adjustable bonnet that can be reduced to 570 mm.
