BEFORE USE
•
Remove all packaging materials from the appliance. Remove the protective foil from the display.
•
Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scales and remove the small plastic strips which are
clamped between the batteries and the contacts.
•
Close the battery compartment afterwards, such that the battery compartment cover audibly engages.
•
The scale can display weights in grams (g) or lb (ounce). You can set the unit on the rear of the appliance.
Slide the units switch 2 to the desired unit.
SETUP
Place the scales on a level and heat-resistent surface. A firm standing is the prerequisite
for correct measurement.
NOTICE
►
This appliance is equipped with non-slip rubber feet. As furniture surfaces may be made of a variety
of materials and are treated with many different types of cleaning agents, it cannot be completely ruled
out that some substances contain ingredients which may corrode the rubber rests and soften them. If
possible place an anti-slip material under the feet of the appliance.
USE
Switching on and off
•
Press the ON / OFF button to switch the appliance on.
•
Press the ON / OFF button again to switch the appliance off.
•
In addition, the appliance is fitted with an auto shut-off function, which automatically switches off the
appliance after approximately two minutes.
Setting the tare weight
•
Press the ON / OFF button to set the reading on the display to zero.
•
Put the empty bowl on the scales and press the TARE button to set the reading on the display to zero.
Weighing
•
Place the scales on a flat surface.
•
Place the object to be weighed on the scales and read off the weight in the display.
•
When using the bowl, first correct the tare as described above. Put the food to be weighed in the bowl,
place the bowl on the scales and read off the weight.
•
If the weight exceeds the maximum capacity, the display will show “
”. To prevent damage to the
appliance, immediately remove the weight from the scales.
CLEANING, MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
Before cleaning or maintenance, switch the appliance off.
•
To clean the appliance, use only mild soap and a damp cloth.
•
Do not use any abrasive or solvent-based cleaner.
Do not immerse any part of the appliance in water or any other liquid.
CHECKING AND REPLACING THE BATTERIES
•
If the display shows »
« the batteries are too low and must be replaced.
•
Periodically open the battery compartment and check the batteries for corrosion.
•
To replace the batteries, open the battery compartment and remove the old batteries.
•
Place new batteries, as indicated by the diagram inside the compartment.
•
When disposing of batteries, follow the instructions given in the section “Protecting the environment”.
