7.5.
Broken Cable Detection (Namur)
Broken cable detection (Namur) can be used for passive pulse sources.
7.5.1.
Mode of Operation
The passive digital input records, for instance, meter data.
The analog input is configured in the SMARTCONTROL Manager as a 0 to 10 V voltage input. As soon as the
measured voltage falls below 0.2 V, this is indicated as a broken sensor.
Details regarding programming are included in the SMARTCONTROL Manager manual.
Note:
The alarm limit and the resistor values must be adapted to the system.
Long cables can only be used under certain circumstances with this circuit layout, and
must thus be carefully configured.
7.5.2.
Connection Example
A SMARTCONTROL digital input, in this example 33/34, is set to the passive operating mode with the help of
jumpers. An analog input, in this example 1/2, is set to the voltage measuring mode for 0 to 10 V with the help of
jumpers.
A 15 kOhm resistor is installed at the pulse generator, and 1.5 and 1 kOhm resistors are installed at the
SMARTCONTROL.
