Step 3 - Tie-offs and Starts
Tie-offs and starting knots are essential
to the long-term durability of your quilt.
A traditional tie-off (or starting knot) is
created by stitching in place 3 times.
• If your machine has a single-stitch
button, press it three times to create a
tie-off.
• If your machine has a half-stitch (needle
down/needle up) button, press it 6 times
to create a tie-off.
• You can also use your machine’s
handwheel to cycle the needle down and
up three times.
