Adjusting Thread Tension
Proper thread tension prevents unwanted puckering, poorly-formed stitches, and malfunctions that
can damage the fabric. Test your thread tension on extra materials before sewing on a project.
Tip:
Bottom thread tension is addressed in “Loading the Bobbin Case” (see page 31).
1. Loosen the tension knob on the large thread tensioner
to set the tension to “1.” The
bottom of the tension knob will line up with the number that the tension is set to.
Note:
Setting “1” is the lowest tension for your machine, and is an ideal starting place to find
the correct top tension.
