DIVERTER VALVE (FLOW POSITION)
Tool (Bucket) Circuit
The tool (bucket) circuit controls the extension and retraction of the cylinder at the end of the telescope boom.
When the tool cylinder rod extends the bucket closes. When it retracts the bucket opens.
Pilot fluid from the left hand joy stick (controller) is directed to the main control valve end cap shifting the control
valve spool. Whenever the spool shifts, main pump fluid is directed to the selected port of the cylinder forcing it
to extend or retract.
Fluid is carried to the cylinder through a series of hoses and tubes. Hoses between the Main Boom and
Telescope Boom are captured in an assembly called the hose trough. Refer to
XL 4000/5000 Upperstructure
Mechanical Adjustment & Repair Manual
(Form 29604) for information on hose layout in this assembly. As
the telescope boom extends and retracts, tool cylinder hoses inside the trough roll forward or backward.
Lubricating these hoses and guides with dry lubricant can extend hose life.
Refer to Appendix B or C for correct circuit cycle time.
These hoses are specifically designed for this circuit to achieve maximum service life. Do Not use
generic hoses for replacement. They should be purchased from GRADALL only through your
GRADALL Distributor.
