8. Disposal
If a product is marked with the symbol of a dustbin with a cross through it, this
indicates that the product must not be disposed of with the household waste. In the
case of batteries or rechargeable batteries/accumulators containing mercury (Hg),
cadmium (Cd) or lead (Pb), the chemical symbol is shown under the crossed-out dustbin
symbol. The end user has an obligation to return the batteries or rechargeable batteries/
accumulators. These can be returned free of charge to the retailer or handed in at any
collection point. Electronic devices and rechargeable batteries/accumulators should be
handed in separately to each other. Make sure that the (rechargeable) batteries are in
a discharged state or protected from short-circuiting, if applicable. When purchasing
products, try to ensure that the products have a long service life to minimise the amount
of waste produced. If your electric or electronic device contains personal data, you are
responsible for erasing it.
Because of the substances they contain, improper disposal of batteries or rechargeable
batteries/accumulators can harm the environment and human health. Special care
should be taken when handling lithium batteries. Products should be checked to see if
they can be re-used, for example, by being repaired, before you dispose of them.
!!! Always observe local waste disposal regulations!!!
