7.4. Starting the Freezing Cycle
When the samples have been positioned correctly, put the lid back on. A few more minutes
may be required for the plate temperature to stabilise again. When it is ready to start, the
Cry
ocooler status will show ‘Cycle Ready’
Follow the instructions below to start the freezing cycle profile.

Once started,
the Cryocooler Status will change to ‘Cycle Running’ and the plate temperature
data is plotted on the graph.
During the cycle, the temperature of the plate is logged automatically in an encrypted format.
The data is stored in the file location shown on the Monitor panel. At the end of the cycle the
data can be used to create a report or analysed for quality control purposes
.
Note that the ‘Ready’ light on the freezer unit may remain on for a short time at the same time
as
the ‘Cycle’ light. It will switch off automatically when the temperature starts to decrease.
7.5. Sample Nucleation
The Monitor Panel constantly shows the time remaining before the Profile reaches the
programmed dwell temperature for nucleating samples.
Select a
freezing profile
Select the following if different
from the default
- Logging interval
- Log directory location
- Log filename
Press ‘Start Cycle button to
start the freezing cycle
