Commonly Reported Problems
5.
If there are any problems with any of the restored files, they may have
become corrupted and need to be deleted and rebuilt. If a problem file
locks the system, you may need to drain NV RAM again to restore
system operation, but you will know what file is responsible. Contact
Grass Valley Group Customer Service if you need troubleshooting
assistance.
Note
After NV RAM files are removed, the Stillstore will not be prepared for use
until NV RAM File Saves are enabled. This will take about 2 minutes. If you
are viewing the Stillstore menus at the time of a system reset, a Still Store
Not Connected message will appear. Once the files have been saved, the Still-
store menu bar will report Still store – connected. You can then refresh the
Stillstore menu manually by making a menu change on the Menu panel.
Panel and Frame Recovery Procedures
If you are still unable to establish communication between Zodiak devices
with the proceeding procedures or the system is continuously locking up,
you may use the following recovery procedures. These procedures place
the Zodiak system in a known default state for troubleshooting purposes.
These procedures should only be used after all other troubleshooting pro-
cedures have been attempted.
The recovery procedures use the recovery Boot floppy disks that were pro-
vided with the Zodiak system. The floppy disks completely reformat the
Main panel disk-on-chip and Video Processor frame hard drive and restore
the default IP addresses set at the factory.
Reformatting the hard drives removes any saved files including all User
and Suite configuration files and saved E-MEM files. If you still have com-
munication between the Menu panel and the Video Processor frame, it may
be possible to copy these configuration files to Zip disk before doing these
reformatting procedures if you have not done so already.
There are two emergency boot floppy disks for the Main panel and one for
the Video Processor frame.
CAUTION
See your network System Administrator or Facility Engineer before making
any IP address changes. Make sure you know what the IP addresses should
be for your facility (including any Subnet mask) of all Zodiak devices before
changing them.
These procedures, described later in detail, include the following steps:
•
Saving User and Suite configuration and saved E-MEM files to Zip disk
(if possible),
•
Shutting down Windows 2000 on the Menu panel (if operating),
•
Reformatting the Main panel disk-on-chip and restoring default IP
addresses,
