Section 5 — Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
Frame Power Supply Failure
At least one power supply for the 2.5-M/E and two power supplies for the
3-M/E must be functioning in the Video Processor frame at all times for the
normal operation. Indicator LEDs on the front of each supply should be lit
to indicate proper operation.
If the AC LEDs are not lit (
1.
Frame is receiving AC power.
2.
AC line cords are plugged into the corresponding power supply rear
AC connectors.
3.
The AC section of the power supply is fused internally and if a fuse is
blown, the front LEDV AC indicator, will not light. Power supplies
should be replaced if a blown fuse is indicated.
Note
Earlier version power supplies have only one LED indicating AC power status.
If AC LED is lit and DC LED is not:
1.
Make sure the Control Processor/DSK/Still Store module in slot 1 is
seating completely.
2.
Make sure the power switch is on.
Frame Thermal Shutdown
If the Video Processor frame shuts down completely, a thermal shutdown
may have occurred. Thermal shutdown capability is built into the Zodiak
Control Processor module in the Video Processor frame. When the ambient
operating temperature of the device reaches a high limit, the switcher will
shut itself off by shutting down the main power switch on the Control Pro-
cessor module. Once the system has cooled sufficiently, power will be
restored and the reason for overheating can be investigated.
Major reasons for overheating include fan failure and insufficient airflow
space around the frame chassis. Check the following status items:
•
Check operating status of the four fans on the fan module in the frame
by either accessing the Frame Status web page with a web browser (see
) or visually checking fan operation if you
can view the fans on the right side of the frame.
•
Make sure the Fan module is seated properly in the frame.
•
Check the two fuses on the Fan module (± 48 V DC).
•
If a fan has failed, replace the entire Fan module.
