Zodiak Installation and Service Manual
Section 6 — Functional Description
•
Rotation,
•
Pattern mix,
•
Softness, and
•
Border.
Transform Engines
The key cut and fill signals feed the Transform Engine circuitry where the
following internal DPM capability is provided per keyer:
•
2-D effects in 3-D space with perspective,
•
Page turn,
•
Border, outline, and extrude effects,
•
Independent drop shadow,
•
Glow and defocus effects, and
•
Output recursive effects (such as star trails and montage).
Mixer Section
The resultant video from the key, wipe, and Transform Engine processing
circuitry enters the final mixing section where the signals are combined and
sent to the M/E outputs. These outputs are routed back to the crosspoint
matrix where they may be re-entered into another M/E or selected as the
final Program outputs.
Effects Send
Effects Send capability is provided by up to four Aux Bus pairs (2 pairs in
a 2-M/E system and 4 pairs in a 3-M/E system) from the M/E modules
which are sent to, and returned from, an external DPM via designated Aux
Buses. The Aux Bus pair must be defined as video/video or video/key sig-
nals, and shaped or unshaped in the Zodiak Menu application.
Input/Crosspoint/Sync Generator Module
The Input/Crosspoint/Sync Generator module resides in slot 4 of the
Video Processor frame (see
). It contains the circuitry
for the following switcher functions:
•
Accepting and processing external input video from the switcher back-
plane,
•
Crosspoint matrix,
•
Internal Background generators, and
•
Sync Generator for generating the necessary timing signals for distribu-
tion throughout the system.
