Functional Description
Introduction
This section provides a functional description of the Zodiak Video Pro-
cessor frame and modules and control panels and associated circuit boards,
including their respective power supply assemblies. The intent is to
provide information adequate to allow maintenance technicians to isolate
problems to the frame module level and the Main panel circuit board level.
Video Processor Frame
The Video Processor frame (
) is a compact 7 RU,
rack-mountable unit with a built-in cooling system. Cooling consists of a
Fan module containing four fans mounted in the right side of the frame and
an air filter on the left side. The cooling air is drawn through the air filter
on the left and is drawn horizontally over the frame modules by the fans.
It then exits out the right side of the chassis. The Fan module runs on +48 V
and is fused on the ± 48 V inputs on the module.
Each fan outputs a tachometer signal to the Control Processor module
where fan status can be read on the Frame Status web page. For fire protec-
tion, a thermostat switch in series with the system power on/off switch on
the Control Processor module opens and removes power from the system
if the frame temperature rises above a set point.
