Trailer Operations
The planter Planter optionally includes a trailing pintle
hitch, intended for use with tank carts having a capacity
of not more than 550 gallons (2080 liters).
Loss of Control Hazard:
Do not attach a tank cart of more than 550 gallons capacity
(this includes the Great Plains semi-mounted 735/1000 carts
and the PFC1600/2000 carts). A cart over 550 gallons
represents an unstable load, which could lead to a major
accident resulting in equipment damage, serious injury or
death.
Hitching/hook-up and operating instructions are found in
the tank cart Operator’s Manual.
Loss of Control Hazard:
DO NOT EVER transport the tank cart while hitched to the
Planter (in train) over roads if there is any liquid in any tank.
Tank(s) must be empty for transport, or the cart must be towed
separately.
CFM Pump Switch
Some tanks include a pump with an electric clutch or
solenoid
a
. The clutch/solenoid circuit is controlled by the
“Fert.Pump” switch on the Clutch Folding Module.
The optional planter-mounted ground drive fertilizer
pump does not use or require this switch. Pumping
starts/stops automatically as the planter is
lowered/raised and moving/stopped.
a. The monitor Pump circuit provides only 12V at maximum of 5A.
This is intended to operate a clutch or solenoid. It is not sufficient to directly power an electric pump.
Equipment Damage Risk:
Do not attempt reverse operations with a trailer hitched to the
Planter. Trailer direction is extremely difficult to control.
