Scorpion 4, 6 and 8
Danfoss valves
All hydraulic valves on the Scorpion are Danfoss valves. All valves should be kept clean
and checked for leaks.
Hoses and fittings
Carefully check the condition of all hoses on a regular basis. Pay particular attention that they
do not rub against side pieces, bolts, etc. Check that all hydraulic hoses and fittings are in good
working order daily. Any damage or leakage must be repaired immediately. This is part of the
daily maintenance and it is the responsibility of the user - compliance will ensure a long service
life. Hoses with visible defective metal strips must be replaced.
The Scorpion hydraulic system operates under very high pressure. Use only original hoses.
When replacing hoses, avoid twisting fittings. Use 2 wrenches to loosen and tighten.
Always check that protective sleeves are in good condition. It is less costly to replace a
protective sleeve than to replace the more expensive hoses.
The warranty of the hoses is limited to the replacement of hoses due to defective materials or
manufacture. The warranty does not apply to:
•
Hoses damaged due to wear and tear
•
If they have received a cut or have been jammed/crushed during work
•
Damage to threads due to overtightening.
Filters
There are 2 different filters on the Scorpion models. On the various Scorpion models,
the filters and the filter elements are similar, but the size may vary. See the spare parts
book to determine your type.
All filters are bypass filters, which means that if the filters are clogged, the hydraulic oil
will pass the filter without being cleansed. This is to avoid cavitation, but the wear on all
the hydraulic components increases if the filters are not changed in time.
Pressure filter consists of:
1. Filter element
2. O-ring
3. White backup ring
(must be on the thread
side)
4. Exterior dust ring
•
Return filter consist of:
1. Filter element
2. O-ring
3. Manometer (shows the
pressure rise in the filter.
This gives an indication
of how much the filter is
contaminated)
