1.3.5 Navigation
System
The RDR-1700A Radar System requires aircraft Navigation information to provide input to the
tracker based upon aircraft movement and used for the Target Marker function. Navigation data is
also displayed on the Radar Indicator for operator convince. For complete Navigation Interface
specifications, contact Telephonics for the RDR-1700A Interface Control Document for the 364-
0000-002 Configuration (P/N: 364-G621-ICD01). The Table 1.3.5-1 lists the required ARINC 429
data.
1.3.6
Air Data System
The RDR-1700A Radar System requires aircraft Air Data information to provide input to the
tracker based upon aircraft movement and used for the Target Marker function. For complete Air
Data Interface specifications, contact Telephonics for the RDR-1700A Interface Control Document
for the 364-0000-002 Configuration (P/N: 364-G621-ICD01). The Table 1.3.6-1 lists the required
ARINC 429 data.
1.3.7 Lighting
Bus
See Section 2.4.3 Lighting Bus Requirements.
1.3.8 Power
Source
See Section 2.4.4 Power Requirements
1.3.9 Electrical
Cables
The installer is responsible for the fabrication of all Electrical Cables (Interconnection Wiring)
between radar units and the aircraft. These cables shall be fabricated in accordance with the System
Wiring Diagram in Figure 2.4.1-11 using the unit connectors as stated in Table 1.3.1.
1.3.10 Weight On Wheels (WOW)
The Weight On Wheels (WOW) is a safety input that will disable the transmitter when the aircraft is on
the ground. The WOW input line is connected to a switch mounted on the aircraft. When the aircraft
is on the ground, the WOW switch will short the WOW input line to ground.
The WOW input to the radar system is not required for normal radar operation. If the WOW is not
connected to a WOW switch, the radar system will continue to transmit when the aircraft is on the
ground.
Telephonics recommends that this circuit be used to prevent radiation of personnel when
the aircraft is on the ground.
