In areas where frost is common, dig each post hole so
it falls below the frost line.
Minimum hole depth for all
areas regardless of frost is 24". Minimum hole diameter
is 12". Set all ground posts 24" below finished grade.
Consult local building codes and qualified contractors for
additional details when digging the post holes and setting
the ground posts.
Follow established codes and construction practices.
Optional: Before setting the
posts, drill a hole through the
bottom of each ground post
2"-3" from the end and insert
a 6"-8" length of rebar through
it. This will help stabilize and
anchor the ground posts once
the concrete sets.
