Cleaning the CD unit
If the device is unable to scan CDs perfectly, use a standard commercially available cleaning CD to
clean the laser optics. Other cleaning methods may damage the laser optics.
To clean CDs use a lint-free cloth and wipe them in a straight line from the centre of the disc out-
wards. Do not use cleaning fluid for vinyl records or other solvents or scouring agents.
Cleaning the tape drive
To guarantee good recording and playback quality, the parts shown (1, 2, 3) should be cleaned
after every 50 hours of use, or once a month.
Open the tape compartment and moisten a cotton swab with alcohol or a special head-cleaning
fluid. Start playback and clean the rubber idler (3). Switch to pause playback and clean the capstan
(2) and the magnetic heads (1). To clean the magnetic heads (1), you can also play a cleaning tape.
