II. Solution
Check that the cable is in good condition and the serial port settings are correct.
Note:
For more information about serial port settings, refer to section 6.3.2 “Modifying Serial
Interface Parameters” in Chapter 6 “Maintaining Software”.
8.4 Using the AUX Port as Backup Console Port
I. Symptom
When the console port is faulty, you can use the AUX port as the backup console port to
complete firewall configuration.
II. Solution

Make sure that the work mode of the AUX port is flow.
z
Power off the firewall, connect the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to the
AUX port, and then connect the DB-9 (female) connector to the serial port of the
configuration terminal.

Power on the firewall.
Note:

The AUX port can work in flow or protocol mode. The AUX port can be used as the
backup console port only when it works in flow mode.
z
The AUX port works in the flow mode by default.
z
Use the
async mod
{
flow
|
protocol
} command to switch between the flow mode
and the protocol mode. For more information, refer to

8.5 Password Loss
If you have lost the BootWare password, user password, or super password, refer to
section 6.7 “Dealing With Password Loss” in Chapter 6 “Maintaining Software”.
