Configuring Blade interfaces
Overview
A Blade interface is an internal interface of the SPU. It is used to connect the SPU to the firewall. The
physical layer and data link layer protocols of a Blade interface are always up. After receiving traffic
from the interface card, the firewall forwards the security related traffic to the Blade interface through the
switching engine. Then the Blade interface forwards the traffic to the SPU for processing. After receiving
traffic from the SPU, the Blade interface forwards the traffic to the interface card for communication with
other devices.
A Blade interface supports the following features:
•
Link aggregation
—Bundles multiple Blade interfaces together to form a Blade aggregation group.
The corresponding logical interface of a Blade aggregation group is called a Blade aggregate
interface. For more information, see
Layer 2—LAN Switching Configuration Guide
and
Layer
2—LAN Switching Command Reference
.
•
Traffic redirecting
—Redirects packets matching the specified match criteria to a specific Blade
interface. For more information, see
ACL and QoS Configuration Guide
and
ACL and QoS
Command Reference
.
