1.4.4 Cable Gland Wiring Instructions
The nickel-plated brass cable glands for hold, alarm, recorder, and serial data cables are
EMC types, designed so that you can attach the cable shields directly to the instrument
box. Typical cable wiring through a gland is illustrated in
1) Unscrew the cable gland nut. You will find a rubber gasket, then a metal washer
with an interior diameter of 8.3mm, and then another metal washer with an
interior diameter of 7.5mm.
2) Pass the cable through the nut, the gasket, and the 8.3mm washer.
3) Strip off 110mm of external insulation, and 85mm of shielding (see
).
4) Pass the cable through the 7.5mm washer.
5) Pinch the shield so that its entire circumference is pressed between the two
6) Pass the cable into the box blocking the cable gland.
7) Reattach and tighten the cable gland nut.
8) Strip the wires about 8mm from their ends.
9) Loosen the screw at the top of the terminal block connector.
10) Insert the wire into the connector opening and tighten the screw.
