1.7  Installation Completion Check List

1.7.1 Check the Purge Gas Supply

The CO

2

sensor must have a supply of dry N

2

purge gas running before operating the

system in-line. The CO

2

 sensor, when

exposed to a liquid sample

, could easily

become

damaged

if the purge gas is not running.

Note:

You must supply power constantly to the indicating instrument since it purges the CO

2

sensor continuously while power is on. If you need to shut off the instrument while
leaving the sensor in a liquid sample, the purge backup unit (included in the sampling
module) provides power to the sensor for up to three days. If the power interruption is
expected to last more than three days, remove the CO

2

 sensor from the flow chamber

and store in a dry place.

1.7.2 Check Sampling Pump

When the pump switch is

ON

, the sampling module pump will not activate unless all of

the following conditions are met:

• The instrument is powered on and in measurement (or Brix/Diet sensor

calibration) mode

• The liquid detector (conductivity sensor) notes the presence of liquid
• The Brix/Diet sensor detects a density level that is greater than half the density of

water

A relief valve inside the sampling module opens before the pump is activated, to assist
in priming the pump. During this time, a small amount of liquid is forced out of a plastic
drain tube through the bottom panel of the sampling module.

1.7.3 Check PC-Instrument Connections

While the indicating instrument and sampling module can operate in a limited fashion as
a standalone unit, they are optimized for use with a computer that is running the ProBrix
Plus PC Program. Ensure that the instrument-to-PC serial connection is functioning
properly.
