Product description

and working principle

Remote control dimmer EVN004 allows to dim light of 

an incandescent load, low voltage LV halogen (230V), 

extra-low voltage halogen

(12V or 24V ELV) with electronic or ferromagnetic 

transformer, fl uocompact dimmable light with built-in 

supply, dimmable 230V LED lamp with built-in supply, 

or very low voltage dimmable LED lamp (ELV 12V or 

24V) with electronic transformer. 

This product is a universal dimmer with automatic 

load control and built-in teaching feature for 

more effi ciently fl uocompact and 230V LED lamp 

adjustment. 

The product has also an "override" mode, which 

allows to select the desired dimming mode.

Dimming is achieved by using pushbutton

 built 

in the product front face, or by lighted or standard 

pushbuttons connected to product terminal E1.

•  Short repeat pressure : to switch light on/off.

•  Extended pressure (400ms and up) : dimming up to 

the minimum or maximum lighting level. Adjustment 

direction (down/up) is reversed on each new 

extended pressure action.

•  Pressing shortly twice : to reset 100% lighting level.

Load teaching

Load teaching allows to detect load characteristics in 

order to control it more effectively :

•  press the pushbutton for 10s. until the load fl ickers 

once. Upon pressing, the load may fl ash.

•  press the pushbutton shortly once to start the 

teaching procedure. This operation lasts for about 

30s. and makes the lighting level vary,

•  after the process has ended, the load switches on 

to the maximum level and fl ickers once to signal 

teaching completion. 

Depending on the connected load, the minimum 

lighting level can be modifi ed.

Factory reset (automatic mode)

If a conventional load is installed again, it is possible 

to reset the "factory" dimming mode : perform 

extended pressure for 10s., then 2 short repeat 

pressure actions. The product will confi rm factory 

reset by making the load fl icker twice. If no action is 

done within 10s. after extended pressure, the product 

will be returned to the previous dimming mode. This 

mode is most suited to the conventional loads.

Perform short repeat pressure for selecting the 

desired dimming mode :

  *  On "Yellow" mode validation, lighting can be 

disturbed for a short time. The dimmer adjusts its 

characteristics to the connected lamps. 

Perform extended pressure on button

 to confi rm 

the selected mode, the indicator luminous will stop 

fl ickering.

If no action is occurs within 2 minutes after extended 

pressure has ended, the product returns to the 

previous dimming mode.

If the validated mode is not compatible with the 

connected load, the dimmer will return  automatically 

to the “factory” mode.

Displaying the current dimming mode 

The current dimming mode can be displayed by a 

short pressure of button

Comfort features

EVN004 offers selectable “comfort” features through 

Selector

. These features are activated by pressing 

pushbutton

 once. The following features are 

available :

1-  Scene : the product allows storing a lighting level 

by extended pressureof pushbutton 

6

. Short 

pressure of this button makes it possible to recall 

the stored level.

2-  Time-delayed scene : this feature allows to recall 

the lighting level stored for a given time using 

potentiometer

. After this delay, the light goes 

off. Lighting level storage is achieved by extended 

pressure of pushbutton 

6

 connected to E2 

terminal of the product.

3-  Progressive switch-off : the brightness level 

decreases gradually until switch-off. This delay 

is adjustable using using potentiometer 

4

 (from 

0 to 90 minutes down from  100%). On the next 

command, the product will switch-on and increase 

lighting gradually from the mini lighting level to 

prevent dazzling.

4-  Night light : the brightness level is maintained at 

30% for a given time using potentiometer 

4

 

(0 – 90 minutes), then light goes off.

Installation Instructions

Install the product at the bottom of the enclosure to 

prevent excessive operating temperature.

We recommend separating dimmers EVN004 from 

high power electromechanical devices (contactors, 

circuit breakers).

Protection against overheating

or overloads

In the event of overheating or overload, power 

available is automatically reduced. 

In order to prevent this from happening : 

•  adjust or decrease the load connected to dimmer 

output, 

•  decrease temperature of the product and the 

enclosure by inserting heat dissipation inserts (e.g. 

LZ060) on both sides of dimmer EVN004 and by 

ensuring adequate ventilation. 

In the event of short-circuit or excessive overload, the 

load is no longer controlled. 

In order to prevent this from happening : 

•  check whether output is in short-circuit, 

•  reduce power of the load connected to the product.
