Operating Instruction
The CCD 514L is a shredder that can be used to shred
paper, CDs and plastic cards.
It is equipped with a large, integrated 14-litre basket
that catches the shredded paper.
If the basket is removed during operation, the device
automatically switches itself off for your safety, so
that getting your hand caught in the running slitting
mechanism is hardly possible.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Read all instructions thoroughly before using
the
machine.
2. Place the cable in such a way that no one will
trip over it.
3. Never open the housing of the shredder.
4. Do not operate the device if it is wet.
5. Switch off the device when not in use and
remove the plug from the socket.
6. Stop using the machine if there is damage to
the cable, housing or holder.
INSTALLATION:
1. Remove all packaging materials from the
device.
2. Place the shredder on a stable, even surface.
3. Ensure that the selection switch is in the
“OFF” position and then connect the power
cable to a 220-240 V~ outlet.
4. Set the switch to “AUTO”.
OPERATION MODES:
Using the switch on the device, select one of the
following modes.
AUTO
– On this setting, the shredder switches itself
on automatically as soon as you insert paper into the
feeder and switches itself off automatically when
there are no more objects.
REV and CD/CC
– In the unlikely case of material being
trapped in the cutter, the reverse function allows you
to remove the blockage.
With this setting, you can also shred CDs and plastic
cards by placing them into the appropriate feeder.
OFF
– This setting switches off the shredder.
REMARKS CONCERNING THE OPERATION:
1. When you have connected the device to the
mains (position of the switch: “OFF”), the
shredder is ready to operate.
2. If you position the switch to “AUTO”, it starts for
a short time (for about 1 second) to remove
eventual rests of paper from the rollers.
Afterwards, it is ready for use and you can insert
the paper which is to be destructed.
3. If you want to destroy CDs or plastic cards,
you always have to position the switch to
“AUTO” before in order to remove eventual rests
of paper. Switch to “REV – CD/CC” only
afterwards!
SLITTING CAPACITY:
The CCD 514L can
- simultaneously shred up to fi ve sheets of
75 g/m² paper with a maximum width of 220 mm.
- simultaneously shred one CD or plastic card.
A FOLDED SHEET OF PAPER IS THE EQUIVALENT OF
TWO SHEETS!
WARNING:
1. Make sure you do not insert objects such
as clothes, ties, jewellery or hair into the
paper
feeder.
2. Set the switch to OFF if the shredder is not to
be used for a longer period of time.
3. Remove any paper clips and staples from the
paper before shredding. The shredder will not
break if you forget to do this once. However,
you should normally avoid this.
4. Keep hands and fi ngers away from the
underside of the shredder during operation
and especially from the cutting rollers, as this
can cause serious injury.
5. Do not operate the shredder for more than
three minutes at a time. If you happen to have
a large quantity of paper to shred, we
recommend that you switch off the shredder
after 3 minutes of continuous operation and
wait 25 minutes before switching the shredder
back
on.
6. The socket you use should be close to the
shredder and easily accessible.
