Installing Hardware:

You must open your computer to install the

card. Ensure that you have unplugged your

computer from the power supply. If you are

not familiar with the internal layout of your

computer, please consult the manual of your

computer or ask an expert.

1. Switch off all connected devices and your

computer.

2. Unplug your PC from the power supply

before beginning installation.

3. Open the cover of your computer.

Note: Static electricity can damage both

the card and your computer. Discharge

yourself by touching a metal object.

4. Select a free PCI slot. Remove the cover

plate for this slot. Keep the screw – you

will need it to secure the card.

5. Hold the card at the edge of the board and

insert it into the free PCI slot. Carefully

press the card into the slot until the holding

bracket is lined up with the casing and the

gold-plated contacts have disappeared

within the slot.

6. Secure the card using the slot plate screw

you removed earlier.

7. Close the case of your computer and plug it

in to the power supply again.

8. Restart your computer.

Installation of the drivers under Windows

2000/XP and Vista:

The drivers are installed automatically when

restarting your computer. If the card has been

correctly installed, the entry for ‘PCMCIA

Adapter’ in the Device Manager will appear

without a yellow exclamation mark.

Installing Drivers for Windows Me:

After you have restarted your PC, it should

automatically recognise your PCI – PC card

converter. The Driver Assistant requests

a driver for “Ricoh rL5C475(II) CardBus

Controller“. Next select Automatic search for

a better driver (Recommended)  -> Next. After

the driver has been installed, click=> Finish

to complete the installation process. Restart

your system. You can check whether the

card was correctly integrated in the system

in the Device Manager. The entry “PCMCIA

Adapter” should now appear without a yellow

exclamation mark.

Driver Installation on Windows 98 SE:

After you have restarted your PC, it should

automatically recognize the card and search

for a driver for “Ricoh RL5C475(II) CardBus

Controller“. Click -> Next to proceed. In the

next window, select Automatic search for

a better driver (Recommended)  -> Next. ->

Next Click on => Next and Windows will fi nd

the driver under “C:\WINDOWS\INF\PCM-

CIA.INF“ => Next. The PC Card (PCMCIA)

Assistant will now open. Read through the

Assistant Information carefully and select

the option that best suits your system. If you

are not sure which option is most suitable

for your PC, select the standard option. Click

Finish -> Restart your system. You can check

whether the PC card adapter was correctly

integrated in the system in the Device Mana-

ger. The entry “PCMCIA Adapter” should now

appear without a yellow exclamation mark.
