4.2 Important usage notes
• Never press two of the buttons on the device at the
same
time.
• Never shred CDs/DVDs/plastic cards and paper at the
same time. The two actions must be performed
separately.
• When inserting paper/CDs/DVDs/plastic cards into
the shredding slots of the device, do not exceed the
indicated capacity limit. This may lead to irreparable
damage.
Please note that a sheet of paper folded one time
counts as two individual sheets of paper.
• Always wait until a plastic card, CD or DVD has been
completely shredded before inserting a new one.
• Insert sheets of paper whose size is smaller than DIN
A4 into the middle part of the shredding slot.
• When you have fi nished using the device, turn it off
and switch the power switch on the reverse side to
“0”.
• This device was developed use in households and
in small companies. Do not use the paper shredder
for longer than 3 minutes at a time, and let it cool
down as needed.
5. Warning messages
The CCD 1018L paper shredder features a motor with an
overload protection function. The normal shredding cycle
for shredding paper, CDs, DVDs and plastic cards at full
capacity is no longer than 3 minutes. After three minutes,
use of the paper shredder should be suspended for
approximately 25 minutes to allow it to cool down.
Power supply to the motor may be automatically
interrupted under the following circumstances:
1. Prolonged use of the paper shredder at full capacity
for longer than three minutes without interruption.
If this happens, the word “OVERHEAT” on the display
is
lit.
2. The device’s capacity is exceeded, if, for example,
more than 10 sheets of paper (80 g/m²) are inserted at
once or slanted sheets of paper are inserted. This
may lead to device overload or a paper jam. If this
happens, the word “OVERLOAD” is lit on the display.
In either of the circumstances described above, the
device’s overload protection function interrupts power
to the motor and the device switches off automatically.
If this happens, proceed as follows:
1. Switch off the device and disconnect the mains
plug. Let the shredder cool down and wait until
overload protection is reset. Remove the paper from
the slot by carefully pulling it out or cutting it off.
2. Reconnect the device to the power supply in order
to switch it back on. Press the REV button to release
the remaining paper back through the shredding slot.
Once you have done so, unplug the device again and
remove any paper remains from the slots and the
cutting rollers. Repeat this process as needed until all
the paper has been removed.
3. Once that has happened, you can reconnect the
device to the power supply and resume use of the
device as usual.
6. Cleaning and care
The paper shredder’s slitting mechanism does not require
any type of special care. Do not use any type of oil on this
device.
In order to maintain a constant level of performance,
you can simply use the forward and reverse functions to
remove paper remains from the cutting rollers.
The actual housing can be wiped clean with a dry cloth.
Do not use any harsh or highly fl ammable cleaning
agents.
Waste bins:
When the bin is full, the word “BINFULL” is lit on the
display. A full waste bin hinders the proper functioning of
the device and may cause a paper jam. For this reason,
you should regularly check and empty the waste bins.
Wipe the bins clean using a dry or slightly damp cloth.
WARNING:
Unplug the paper shredder before you clean it.
