The Stereo Mixer SM 2000 is a universal 5-channel sound mixer. On account of its sophisti-
cated configuration and excellent transmission characteristics, this console can be com-
bined with a hifi stereo stack or incorporated into a private sound studio.
A diversity of connecting capabilities make the SM 2000 ideal for creative audio signal post-
processing for video films.
Operating instructions:
1. The power switch must be in the OFF position before any units are connected.
2. Plug the supplied mains adapter into the socket on the back panel and into the mains.
3. The amplifier’s volume control should be adjusted to MINIMUM.
4. All source players are plugged into the corresponding socket. The Stereo Mixer is now
connected to the amplifier by way of the OUTPUT socket. Suitable inputs on the amplifi-
er are TAPE/AUXILIARY or TUNER. The REC output can be used if a recording unit
(e.g. a cassette recorder) is to be directly connected to the mixing console. Headphones
to monitor the recorded sound can be plugged into the correspondingly identified socket
on the top of the console.
A microphone can be plugged into the MIC socket on the top of the unit.
5. When in LINE 1 and LINE 2 position any source player can be connected to the PHONO
1 and PHONO 2 inputs instead of a record player.
6. Cross-fading between the two selected sound sources is effected with the rocker switch-
es to the right and left of the cross-fader slide control.
7. The sound fed to the headphones is selected with the MONITORING knob. The knob po-
sitions 1 to 4 adjust the respective source players connected to the Source 1 to Source 4
slide controls for monitoring with the headphones. The microphone input is monitored
with the MICRO setting. The volume of the monitoring signal fed to the headphones is
adjusted with the LEVEL knob.
The pitch of the mixed sound can be corrected with the BASS and TREBLE knobs. The
rocker switch is used to select between stereo and mono and the VU meters indicate the
adjusted signal strength.
The complete system is ready for use when all sound sources and the amplifier have
been connected. Turn on the units with the power switch. The required volume and sig-
nal strength is adjusted with the individual slide controls, and with the volume control on
the amplifier.
