Replacing the batteries
If battery capacity is so low that the scooter can only make short trips, or can not be
driven at all, then the batteries have reached the end of their lifespan. Replace the
batteries as soon as possible.
Contact your dealer: your dealer will know exactly which batteries are
most suitable for your scooter.
The batteries are replaced as follows:
•
Turn off the scooter (remove the ignition key
from the lock).
•
Remove the seat. See 'Removing the seat'.
•
Remove the fastener on the front of the
battery cover.
•
Remove the red and black caps from the
battery.
•
Loosen the belts which hold the batteries in
place by pressing the clasp.
•
Unscrew the battery clips from the cables
using a 13 mm spanner.
•
Remove both batteries.
The new batteries are positioned in reverse order, as follows:
•
Position the new batteries.
•
Secure the batteries using the belts.
•
Connect the cables in accordance with the following table:

•
Tighten the battery clips.
•
Ensure that the cables have been correctly connected to the
batteries. The labels indicate which connections are correct.
•
Connections may NOT be swapped around.
•
Ensure that the battery terminals and battery clips are fairly clean.
•
Grease the battery clips in order to prevent rusting. Use acid-free Vaseline for this
purpose.
•
Replace the cover.
•
Once the new batteries have been put in place they will need to be
charged. See ‘Charging the batteries’.
•
Avoid metal parts coming into contact with the battery terminals.
This could lead to a short circuit which can have serious
consequences.
