XIV. How to use and maintain the lead
-
acid battery
I. Lead
-
acid battery and its application
The battery is used as the power source to start the engine, and it is used to replace the power supply
of the voltage regulator and overload generators. Light weight, low failure rate, easy to use and
maintain. All batteries are sealed except for maintenance
-
free batteries which are provided with two
vents (to release gas produced by the battery) on both sides. The lead
-
acid battery is provided with a
filling hole on the upper cover of battery.
II. Battery storage and handling
① Batteries should be stored in a dry and ventilated place at a temperature of 5
℃
-
40
℃
, kept
away from children and fireworks, kept away from exposure to the sun, radiation and other heat
sources, and out of the rain.
② Batteries should not be stored in more than 4 layers; each layer should be separated by
cardboard to avoid damaging battery pole column.
③ Be gentle when handling batteries; do not tilt, invert, throw, or crush batteries and protect
them from severe impacts to avoid battery leakage and damage.
④ When batteries are provided with a lifting rope or lifting handle, these should be carefully
checked for security before handling; do not repeatedly sway when handling to prevent the lifting
rope or lifting handle from detaching, causing battery to fall.
Caution
Batteries that have been put aside for a long time or are not frequently used should be
maintained regularly and their charging conditions should be checked.
⚫
Maintenance
-
free batteries should be maintained every three months.
⚫
Standard lead
-
acid batteries should be maintained once a month.
III. Battery inspection and maintenance
If the truck has been continuously running, it should be stopped for at least 30 minutes before
checking and disassembling the batteries.
① Check whether the battery case has cracks, damage or electrolyte leakage.
② Do not let the batteries become too discharged; charge promptly when the voltage is lower
than 12.5V.
③ The power level indicator displays battery status after the batteries are installed.
④ Ensure that battery terminal is not corroded, the connecting parts are not loose, there is no
external cracking, and the fixing clamp is not loose.
3.1 Maintenance
-
free batteries without power level indicator: The user does not need to add water
and liquid during use.
