NOTICE
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the freezer
may result in damage.
• Do not use any electric heat-
ing appliances, open flames, ice
scrapers, knives, etc. to defrost.
The insulation could melt or be-
come scratched.
1. Set the temperature controller
1
to ‘MAX’
at least 3 hours before defrosting. This
way, the frozen food gets a cold reserve
and does not defrost as quickly.
2. After 3 hours, set the temperature control-
ler
1
to “MIN” and pull the mains plug out
of the socket.
3. Take out the frozen food. Wrap it thickly in
newspaper and place it in a laundry basket
in a cool room or refrigerator.
4. To accelerate defrosting, place a bowl of
hot, but not boiling, water in the freezer.
5. Leave the door open while defrosting.
Place a floor cloth in front of the freezer to
absorb thaw water.
The defrosting time depends on the thick-
ness of the ice layer. Experience shows
that you can start to clean the freezer after
approximately one hour.
6. Wipe the interior with warm rinsing water.
7. Clean the door seal. (See chapter „Clean-
ing the door seal“, page EN-19.)
8. After cleaning thoroughly rub everything
dry, including the door seal, and briefly
allow to air.
9. Insert the mains plug back into the socket
and turn the temperature controller
1
to
‘MAX’.
10. Place your frozen food back into the freez-
er.
11. As soon as a temperature of –18 °C has
been reached, you can turn the tempera-
ture controller
1
back to the desired posi-
tion.
Cleaning the door seal
NOTICE
Risk of damage!
The freezer door seal is sensitive
to grease and oil; these make the
door seal porous and brittle.
• Use only damp, clean cloths.
• Do not use caustic, abrasive,
sand, soda, or acidic detergents
or sponges.
Check the door seal regularly for contamination
and damage to ensure that no warm air can get
into the freezer.
1. Clean the door seal regularly with a damp
cloth.
2. Clamp a piece of paper between the freezer
and freezer door at various locations. The
paper should be difficult to pull through at all
points.
3. If the seal is not uniform everywhere, warm
it gently with a hair dryer at the unsealed
points. Gently pull the seal out with your
fingers.
