Operation
Defrosting and cleaning the freezer
compartment
Moisture from the food and ambient air forms frost on the inside
of the appliance.
You should remove ice and frost from the inner walls of the freez-
er at least once a year, or at the latest when the layer of frost is
approx. 4 mm thick. Otherwise, the ice forms a layer of insulation,
which impedes the cooling output and increases electricity con-
sumption.
WARNING
Danger of explosion!
Defrosting sprays can form explosive gases, may
contain components that damage plastic, and may be
harmful to health.
• Never use defrosting sprays.
WARNING
Health hazard!
An increase in the temperature of the frozen food dur-
ing defrosting can shorten the shelf life of the frozen
food.
• Ensure that the frozen food is kept sufficiently cool
during defrosting.
CAUTION
Risk of injury!
Improper handling of the freezer compartment can
lead to skin damage and injuries.
• Never touch the interior walls of the freezer compart-
ment or frozen food with wet hands. Injuries can also
occur with dry hands though.
