Cleaning the oven
Page EN-29
Opening the oven door by force will
damage the oven!
The oven door locks during the pyro-
lytic self-cleaning process. The locking
mechanism will release automatically
once the interior of the appliance is suf-
fi ciently cooled off.
■
Never attempt to open the oven door
by force either during the pyrolyt-
ic process or before the cooling-off
phase has ended.
Generally speaking, the term “pyrolysis” de-
scribes dissolving substances by applying
heat. Pyrolysis heats the cooking compart-
ment up to 450 °C and turns dirt to ash which
can be easily wiped off later.
Pyrolytic cleaning is a good option for when
residue cannot be easily removed with a
sponge and water.
Starting pyrolysis
1. Switch off the hob’s four zones.
The increased energy required for gener-
ating the high temperature in the cooking
compartment during pyrolysis does not al-
low for the hob to be operated simultane-
ously. In this case, the display would show
the symbol “----” upon starting pyrolysis
2. Completely empty the cooking compart-
ment. Remove the oven rack (3), baking
tray (4) and dripping pan (5) as well as
the oven rack guides (27) as described in
section “Cleaning oven rack guides and
telescopic oven rails” on page EN-30.
3. Remove large bits of food or other con-
taminants from the cooking compartment.
4. Close the cooking compartment door.
Otherwise, the process will not start and
the display will show

5. Turn the dial (19) until the display (16)
shows the letters
PYR
.
6. To confirm the selection and start the
pyrolytic self-cleaning process, tap the
sensor (14).
You will hear the process begin, and the
cooking compartment door locks.
7. To change the cleaning duration, turn the
function dial (19) until the display (16)
shows the desired cleaning duration in
hours (
1:30
to
2:00
).
8. To confirm the displayed cleaning dura-
tion, tap the
sensor (14).
After the pyrolytic process has finished, the
fan will continue to run for another hour.
This is necessary in order for the fan to suf-
ficiently cool the interior of the appliance.
The power supply must not be interrupted
during this hour of cooling. At the end of the
hour, you will hear five signal tones and the
oven will switch off.
9. Remove the ash.
If you try to switch on one or more
cooking zones during pyrolysis, the
oven will switch off on its own within one min-
ute.
