5. Take one side assembly with the slide rods inserted making sure the Johns Hopkins
handle is facing outwards, and add a plastic spacer, nylon washer, bumper spring and a
second nylon washer to the bottom of the slide rods as shown. While holding the hardware
in place, lift the side assembly and place the slide rods onto the lower crib eyes as shown.
6. Push down on both ends of the side rail assembly, and position the top of the slide rods
& side assembly under and up into the upper crib eye. Add the screw and washer to the
tops of the slide rods but do not completely fasten at this time.

7. Halfway down the slide rod and the end assemblies, there is a tab called a lug. Line up
the slide rod lug with the one on the end assembly, and fasten with the screw and washer
on the outside, and the lockwasher and acorn nut on the inside as shown below.

8. Raise and lower the side rail several times to allow the slide rods to align themselves in
the crib eyes, and then fasten the screw and washer at the top of the slide rods. Add the
mattress.
