Regardless of which option you choose, the operation is identical when you click
on a choice:
a, Output Mode
In most cases, the desired output format is PCM, which is the digital audio format
used by popular program sources such CDs, satellite receivers and cable boxes
and laser disc players. Unless your receiver is specifically designed to decode
MP 3 files, leave the setting at the default of “MP3 to PCM”. With the Full menu
presentation this will show as a dot in the radio button on the top line of the
Output Mode Choices.
When the Systray menus are used, a check mark will appear on the
MP3 to
PCM
line.

When the MP3 to PCM mode is selected, you may then choose any DSP or
surround mode on your receiver for multichannel presentation, or simply select
stereo and enjoy your MP3 files with all the high quality your receiver, amplifier
section and speakers can deliver.
If your AV receiver or surround processor is capable of internal MP3 decoding,
you may wish to change the setting by clicking on the MP3 to MP3 option in
either menu. This will allow products such as the Harman Kardon AVR 110, AVR
120, AVR 210, AVR 220, AVR 310, AVR 320, AVR 510, AVR 520 and AVR 520
to do the decoding rather than rob processor horsepower from your computer.
The availability of additional surround modes or processing when the MP3 to
MP3 mode will vary according to the brand and model of product used.
