STS
System Time Stamp. A 24-bit, 90-kHz counter that is referenced each time a packet arrives at
the input port.
stuffing byte
A null byte with a hexadecimal value (usually 0xFF) used to fill out the length of MPEG-2
sections and packets.
stuffing type
Indicates the type of stuffing byte (usually 0xFF), as either Section or adaptation field. Section
stuffing adds stuffing bytes (usually 0xFF) in the
at the end of the table section to
make up the packet length. Adaptation field stuffing adds stuffing bytes to the adaptation
field at the beginning of the TS packet so the section ends on the last byte of the TS packet.
submap
For NMX, a submap includes the input transport, the output transport, and any transports
that you have created. Each of the transports is a submap in and of itself, and can be opened
by double-clicking the icon.
subnet mask
A subnet mask is a bit combination used to describe which part of an address refers to the
network or the subnet, and which part refers to the host or destination device.
subscriber
The end user of a broadcast system.
S-video
Separate video, also called Super-video. An analog video interface which consists of separate
luma (Y) and chroma (C) information
SVP
Secure Video Processor.
symbol rate
The encoded transmission rate in a modulated stream, expressed in Mbaud.
